International Literacy Day

UNESCO International Literacy Day 2017

8th September 2017

The theme for this year is “Reading the Past, Writing the Future”

“The world has changed since 1966 – but our determination to provide every woman and man with the skills, capacities, and opportunities to become everything they wish, in dignity and respect, remains as firm as ever. Literacy is a foundation to build a more sustainable future for all.” – UNESCO Director-General

Fifty years ago, UNESCO officially proclaimed September 8th International Literacy Day to promote literacy as an instrument to empower individuals, communities, and societies.

In honor of this, the Fantasy and Science-Fiction Network authors will gather together to host an Ask An Author Anything event on the Azure Fire/ FSFNet Slack channel where anyone can talk to an author member of the FSFNet community, whether to discuss their favorite book or talk about writing and publishing in general.

FSFNet will also hold the sale event on September 8th on their website, where ebooks will either be discounted or free for the day.   FSFNet Website

You will be taken to a page where you will be asked to enter your email address. Slack will then send you an invite email where you can set up a user name and password, and then you can access the public chat channel.

If you come by early, make sure to say hi! I will be on the road traveling to Florida (as is the plan for now, Hurricane Irma may change that for me) and will be online the whole time to chat with everyone!
